Blandford Camp lies two miles north-east of Blandford Forum in the heart of rural Dorset. The seaside resorts of Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth are all less than 30 miles away as is the cathedral city of Salisbury. Within an hour you can reach Southampton (to the east) or the historic city of Bath (to the west). Closer to Blandford are the smaller rural towns of Dorchester, Shaftesbury, Sherborne and Wimborne.

The following facilities are available on camp: HIVE information centre, Army Welfare Service, bowling alley, cafés, cash dispensers, cinema, community centre, families medical centre, serving personnel medical and dental centres, garrison church, grocery store, gurkha temple, gymnasium, bar, hairdressers, internet café, nursery, police station, pre-schools, primary school, royal signals museum, SSAFA, thrift shop and two youth centres.

Bovington HIVE

Serving Bovington Camp and Lulworth.

Bovington Camp in Dorset has been established as a training camp since 1916. The area surrounding Bovington is rural. Amenities within Bovington are limited so travelling to Dorchester (11 miles) or Poole (13 miles) is essential for supermarket shopping and to find all major high street stores.

Closer to Bovington is the village of Wool (two miles). The train station there provides a vital link for travelling to Wareham (seven miles), which has a small high street. The seaside resorts of Bournemouth, Weymouth and Swanage are all less than 25 miles away.

Many former military houses in Bovington are now owned by civilians. A community spirit has developed between the military and civilian population in Bovington and is proving to be successful one with many events being jointly organised and supported by both communities.

The facilities on camp comprise the following: HIVE, AWS Community Office, Sure Start Families Centre, community centre with mother and toddler room, Londis shop & Post Office, cash machine, Families Medical Centre, garrison church, garrison welfare office, library & PRI shop, hairdressers, Beehive Café, launderette, tank museum and Gauntlet restaurant, Salvation Army Café, Chinese and kebab takeaways, police office, Cloudshill Pub/Restaurant, thrift shop, swimming pool and gym, tennis courts.

Bulford HIVE

Serving Bulford Garrison, Netheravon and Wilton.

Bulford is situated in Wiltshire and forms one part of Tidworth, Netheravon and Bulford Garrison. Bulford lies at the foot of Beacon Hill and the A303 runs along side making it easy to reach such places as Basingstoke, Reading and London as well as Southampton, Bournemouth and Exeter. The town of Amesbury is situated three miles from Bulford Camp and just beyond are the recognised World Heritage sites of Stonehenge and Woodhenge.

Bulford has a range of facilities which are within walking distance. The Beeches family centre is a community centre with a range of facilities. There is also a crèche and pre-school, a beautician and unisex hairdressers.

The Haig centre is where all the youth activities take place and boasts such facilities as: the Haig Nursery (all day child care), the Getaway Club (after school and holiday care centre for children from Kiwi and Bulford primary schools), the Youth Club (5 to 12 years), Bulford Cubs and Scouts, Parent and Toddler Group.

Colerne HIVE

Serving Colerne and Corsham.

Colerne is a rural village in the heart of Wiltshire, within walking distance of the married quarters patch and has a range of small shops, playschool and primary school. There is a twice weekly public bus service to Chippenham and a daily bus service to Bath, in addition to which the local unit also provides a free mini bus once a week to Chippenham town centre.

Colerne is home to 21 Signal Regiment (AS) based at Azmighur Barracks, North Colerne. There are a number of facilities on camp, including a gym, a shop (The Market Mace), restaurant (PAYD), thrift shop, unisex hair salon, cash point, community centre, Army Learning Centre and Gooseberry Bush Day Nursery. There are three secondary schools within the catchment area.

Corsham is approximately five miles from Colerne. This idyllic village has a variety of small shops and some excellent restaurants as well as being home to 10 Signal Regiment at the Basil Hill site.

Further afield the town of Chippenham is some eight miles away. Also nearby is the village of Castle Combe famous for its race track as well as the picturesque village. The historic city of Bath, also approximately eight miles from Colerne, offers ample shopping, entertainment, and sightseeing opportunities.

The M4 is easily accessible from Colerne and there are train stations at both Chippenham and Bath which both offer a direct line service to London Paddington.

Tidworth HIVE

Serving Tidworth Garrison, Perham Down, Shipton Bellinger, Collingbourne Ducis and Andover.

Tidworth is situated in Wiltshire, on the border to Hampshire, and forms one part of the Tidworth, Bulford and Netheravon Garrison. The A303 runs along side Tidworth, making it easy to reach places such as Basingstoke, London, and Reading as well as Southampton, Bournemouth and Exeter. The village of Amesbury is situated 9 miles from Tidworth Camp and just outside Amesbury are the recognised World Heritage sites of Stonehenge and Woodhenge.

Tidworth has a wide range of facilities, most of which are within walking distance. The Ashdown Family Centre offers a wide range of activities for parents, carers and their children - from “stay and play” sessions to parenting classes, special needs groups and free counselling.

The Tidworth Leisure Centre offers a wide range of activities for all ages. It is equipped with a fitness suite, swimming pool (including flume), tennis courts and squash courts.

The Windmill Hill Children’s Centre is a Sure Start Children’s Centre which caters for parents/carers and their children (0-5 yrs). There are several nurseries, crèches and primary schools to choose from, with the nearest secondary schools in Ludgershall (Wellington Academy) or Andover.
