Aldershot HIVE

Serving Aldershot and St Omer Barracks, Farnborough, Church Crookham and Yateley in Hampshire and Pirbright in Surrey

Aldershot is located in North Hampshire. It's a 10-minute drive from the M3 and the A3 providing easy access to the M25, London, the South Coast and the West Country. It is close to Farnborough and Fleet and Farnham. Larger towns nearby such as Guildford, Woking, Basingstoke and Reading all have excellent shopping facilities. Aldershot train station has direct trains to London, Guildford and Woking. Regular bus services operate throughout Aldershot.

There is a wide range of local services and facilities in Aldershot Garrison. These include a leisure centre, bowling alley, 2 theatres, a golf club and the Wellington Shopping Centre. There are 2 community centres in Aldershot and one in Church Crookham and all offer many activities for the local community.

There is an excellent range of sporting facilities available in the Garrison. The Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre has an Olympic sized swimming pool, squash courts and fitness studio. Other facilities in the garrison include the St Omer Barracks Physical and Recreation Training Centre, the Aldershot Army Golf Club, the Hawley Lake Sailing Training Centre and the Aldershot Garrison Angling Club. Canada House houses a Combat Centre which has judo, boxing and martial art facilities as well as the Regional Rehabilitation Unit.

There are many other facilities available in Aldershot Garrison including the Aldershot Centre for Health. Schools are plentiful and adult educational facilities are located in Wellington House and the Connaught Community Centre. The garrison has 3 churches and additional places of worship for Nepalese and Fijian personnel.

Arborfield HIVE

Arborfield Garrison is situated on the edge of Arborfield village, 3.5 miles from Wokingham and 7.5 miles from Reading. London (35 miles away) is less than one hour by train and there are plenty of sightseeing opportunities within easy reach.

The garrison gym is situated in the Welfare Centre, Hazebrouck. There is a Community Centre, situated outside the gates of Rowcroft Barracks, housing a hairdressers, beauty parlour, various clubs and activities as well as a Nursery, Pre-School, library and an Army Learning Centre. In Hazebrouck Barracks there is a Spar shop, NAAFI Club, barber shop, regimental tailors and a Welfare Centre, comprising a WRVS Coffee Shop and lounge, Cyber Café, HIVE, games rooms and the welfare offices.

Bordon HIVE

Serving Bordon, Oakhanger and Longmoor

Bordon Garrison is home to the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (Bordon), 10 Training Battalion REME (10 Trg Bn), and the HQ of 104 FS Battalion REME (104 FS Bn). The CPU (Close Protection Unit) are based just along the road in Longmoor.

The town of Bordon lies within North East Hampshire and contains the villages of Grayshott, Headley, Kingsley, Lindford and Whitehill. It lies on the A325 which can be reached from the north near Farnham on the A31 or from the south off the A3. It is also an easy commute into London by train. There are plenty of family attractions close by and there is a leisure centre within Bordon.

The camp has several gyms and a garrison pool, which is open to all serving personnel and their families. The Bordon Learning Centre is based in Prince Philip Barracks and offers LearnDirect courses. There is a services welfare centre (WRVS) for use by 10 Training Battalion single soldiers, which has facilities such as internet access, Microsoft software, computer games, WiFi access, TV room (with SKY), pool and snooker tables. Within this complex there are also several bars. The camp also provides a church, a barber shop, a convenience shop, cashpoints, telephones and a PRI shop. Martinique House Community Centre is located off camp and houses the Welfare Office, the HIVE, and a coffee shop.

Chatham HIVE

Chatham HIVE covers Chatham, Shorncliffe and Maidstone.

Chatham Garrison is situated in the centre of the Medway Towns, 20 minutes from London by train and 35 minutes  from France by Eurostar. In close proximity are the cities of Canterbury, Tonbridge Wells and Maidstone.

Medway Towns are renowned for their maritime history. Within Medway there are castles, a cathedral, the Royal Engineers Museum, Fort Amherst and two country parks. There’s a leisure centre, a bowling centre, kart circuit, ski and snowboarding, ice rink, theatres and shopping centres.

Within the barracks there is a NAAFI Spar shop, internet café, WRVS, launderette, gym, squash courts and mess bars with facilities. The garrison boasts a Scout group,(Beavers, Cubs, Scouts), Girl Guide Group (Rainbows, Brownies, Guides), martial arts, horse riding for military personnel and family discounts, yoga, gym and Personal Development Centre.

Marchwood HIVE

Serving Marchwood, Hythe and Calshot

Marchwood, Hythe and Calshot are located in an area known as the Waterside. The Waterside is situated on the edge of the New Forest, which nestles between Southampton and Bournemouth. Call into the HIVE for information or pick up one of our many leaflets about this beautiful area.

The Regimental Restaurant (St Georges), Sgts & WO’s Mess and Officers Mess now have the new pay-as-you-dine facility. Families are welcome to use the gymnasium, squash courts and Army Learning Centre in McMullen Barracks. The HIVE holds Information on courses in the learning centre.

Minley HIVE

Serving Minley and Yately

The Royal School of Military Engineering Minley (RSME Minley) is located at Gibraltar Barracks on the A327 and is about 3 minutes from Junction 4a of the M3.

Minley Station provides a wide range of facilities including cinema and Spar shop. The Junior Ranks Complex consists of two bars, the HIVE, WRVS (with free internet access, snooker, tea & coffee) and the barber shop. The Fitness Club has a well-equipped gym, squash courts, swimming pool and all weather tennis courts. Dependants can apply for membership to use fitness club facilities. There are a number of sports clubs with membership open to all Minley Station personnel including the sub-aqua club, clay pigeon club and angling club. The Station also has Officers, WOs and Sgts, and Cpls Messes.

Minley Parish Church is located in the grounds of the Officers’ Mess whilst the welfare hub offers a multi-prayer room.

Worthy Down HIVE

Serving Worthy Down, Harestock and Barton Stacey

Worthy Down is located approximately 5 miles from the historic city of Winchester. Army Training Regiment (Winchester) is situated approx 1 mile from Worthy Down. Winchester is 1 hour by rail to London Waterloo. Southampton, Basingstoke and Portsmouth are all within easy travelling distance.

Worthy Down camp is easily accessible to the M3, M4 and is located adjacent to the A34. Camp facilities include a community centre, which hosts several clubs, a playgroup and crèche, a gymnasium complex, shops and hairdresser/barber.
