8 Field Company (Para)

Our role is to provide Equipment Support to all units within 16 Air Assault Brigade.  This means we consistently have a Platoon stood by at Very High Readiness to deploy on Exercise or Operations all over the world in support of the lead Air Assault battlegroup. With this readiness comes unique and testing training and leadership opportunities found nowhere else in the Corps

8 Field Company (Parachute) was formerly part of 7 Air Assault Battalion REME until November 2015 when it resubordinated to become part of 13 Air Assault Support Regiment RLC.  We are the only ‘Airborne’ sub unit within the REME and hold the largest pool of Parachute trained Officers and Soldiers within the Corps. The “Pegasus” ethos underpins our effectiveness, determination and inclusiveness as a company and fosters a team spirit to be admired.

Recent deployments include Germany, Poland, Kenya, Italy and the USAwhere REME Officers and Soldiers have well and truly exercised the term ‘repair forward’ using skill and determination to return equipment to the users in the most testing environments.  Within the Company, multinational interoperability is one of our key missions, having strong links with both 11e Brigade Parachutiste (Fr) and 82ndAirborne Division (USA).

8 Field Company (Parachute) is also widely known across both the Corps and the Army for their sporting achievements, in particular their physical endurance team.  Over recent seasons, the Company have led the way at Corps and Army level Athletics and Cross Country events, taking pride in their strong ‘Airborne’ and Corps ethos.

The unit is based at Merville Barracks, Colchester, which is ideally situated in the South East of the UK
