RLC Association

The British Army is justifiably proud of its regimental system that is the envy of other Armies for the way the esprit de corps is developed and maintained. The purpose of The RLC Association is to promote and develop the Corps' corporate identity and we aim to achieve this through concern for Corps members, Regular and TA, serving or retired and their dependants.

This includes fostering welfare, pride of heritage, sport and other activities. It also facilitates reunions and provides relief to those who fall on hard times, or are otherwise in need. The work of the Association is funded through serving RLC officers' and soldiers' contributions to the Day's Pay Scheme, retired members' subscriptions to the Association and donations.

We are very conscious of the continuing role of the Forming Corps in the regimental family and the varying and increasing needs of our predecessors. The RHQ is charged with keeping in touch with individuals, ex-servicemen's organisations and the Army Benevolent Fund in order to give assistance where needed. This contact is also maintained in order to assist those seeking suitable employment after leaving the Corps.

So what?

The Corps family is developing gradually as The RLC matures and is hoping to embrace all who have served with The Royal Logistic Corps and its predecessors.

The connection remains for life and can be as strong or as weak as individuals wish it to be. It is your family, but will only grow with the support of you the members.

The Association is for all members and retired members of The RLC, not just the officers and senior ranks and we are actively trying to encourage younger serving personnel and those who have recently left.

What are the benefits?

The Association is there to provide a focus for all members of The RLC to keep in touch, to provide assistance to those of us in real need and to provide a close knit network of like-minded people for those who have left and are seeking new careers or a change in career.

All serving officers and soldiers are automatically members of the Association and many contribute to the Days Pay scheme.

Membership is open to all serving members of The RLC Territorial Army and all retired people who have served in the Regular or Territorial Army with The RLC or with the RASC/RCT, RAOC, RPC, ACC or the RE (P&CS) for a modest subscription currently of £15 a year (UK, Europe £18 and worldwide £22) you will receive The Sustainer four times a year enabling you to keep in touch with what your Corps is doing and to which you may wish to contribute articles.

Membership of The RLC Association enables you to:

  • Attend formal and social occasions arranged by the Association. These are advertised in The Sustainer.
  • The best known are those held around Corps Weekend at the home of The RLC in Deepcut Camberley.
  • Subscribe to The RLC Association Trust Fund that helps our comrades in need.
