The Royal Highland Fusiliers (2 SCOTS)

The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) is a light role infantry Battalion based in Glencorse Barracks, Penicuik, near Edinburgh. The Battalion prides itself on its professionalism and soldiering excellence and is part of 51 Infantry (Scottish) Brigade.

2 SCOTS soldiers have recently completed an eight month deployment in Kabul.

2 SCOTS were supporting training for the Afghan National Army, and as part of the UK's commitment to NATO's peace keeping mission in Afghanistan were part of the Kabul Security Force providing protection for UK and NATO personnel in the city.

The Battalion has deployed to Afghanistan on operational duty four times.

Since returning from Kabul, Alpha Company have been providing the Royal Guard for Her Majesty The Queen, Colonel in Chief of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, at Balmoral.

2 SCOTS have also been involved in numerous Defence Engagement activities: Bravo Company have conducted joint training with Qatari Officer Cadets and Short Term Training Teams have been working in Oman.

Gaining a silver medal, the professionalism of our soldiers was further highlighted on the Cambrian Patrol - a 36-hour, long-range patrol competition.

In between deployments and training, 2 SCOTS soldiers have conducted adventurous training across the world (including Nepal and Bavaria) whilst maintaining a strong sporting tradition.
