EX RHINO SNIPER – 1(UK)XX SNIPER SHOOTING COMPETITION took place at Barry Buddon Range in Carnoustie, Scotland, during the period 24th - 28th April 2017.

The competition comprised of a variety of shoots from 10-1200m, and its aim was to improve effectiveness in operational marksmanship and promote interest in precision marksmanship and skill at arms.
The shoots were operationally focused and varied in range from close quarter pistol and rifle engagements to longer range serials. 1 Royal Gurkha Rifles Sniper Platoon entered 2 pairs who travelled from Brunei to compete.
Notably, one member of 1 RGR was awarded the best Sniper 2 in the competition. Both pairs have been selected to represent the Army in the forthcoming Tri-Service Sniper Competition in Salisbury Plain in September.
