Move of Service Personnel and Families to Nepal

Please read the booklets in the downloads panel which will give you useful information to ensure that your transition to Nepal runs smoothly.

Important – The first and most important document to complete is the Medical Screening Questionnaire which will be sent to you by Families Section, Defence Passenger Reservation Centre (DPRC) when you initiate your flight booking. This must be filled in and sent off to DPRC and SMO Brunei at the earliest opportunity as if you, or any member of your family have a medical condition which cannot be treated effectively within the available facilities in Nepal; your entire posting is likely to be cancelled.

You are also to complete MOD Form 1132 (Application to Occupy Service Family Accommodation) (hard copy) and forward it to QM British Gurkhas Nepal. You will not allocated an accommodation in Nepal without having received your completed MOD Form 1132. Note that your confirmation of an accommodation is also an authority for DPRC to confirm and issue your flight itineraries.

Within the first few days of a posting to Nepal you will receive briefings about life in BGN and other important subjects, such as medical issues and emergency procedures.

Much of this information is also contained in the attached booklets, but the briefing process itself is important so that you have a chance to discuss any issues and meet key staff. To that end spouses and accompanying children who are old enough to travel around the city alone are encouraged to attend all the briefings.

The Resettlement Briefing pack contains information for Gurkha personnel who wish to settle in Nepal after discharge.

We hope the information provided is as helpful as possible. If you feel that something has been left out or is outdated please inform Brigade and Unit Welfare Office who will update/add as necessary.
