Soldier Careers in the AGC

The Adjutant General's Corps has 2 specialisations for soldiers:

Combat Human Resource Specialist and Royal Military Police.   

Combat Human Resource Specialist  The Combat Human Resource Specialist is responsible for all personnel activities relating to officers and soldiers whether deployed on operations or in barracks. Combat HR Specialists undertake a wide variety of roles in their initial employment building the foundations for specialisation later.  Their job includes:

Information Technology  The provision of management information, information administration (storage, retrieval, distribution and security of electronic documentation), IT Oracle software user.

Finance Accounting, provision of banking services on operations, advice on allowances and payroll.

Business Administration All aspects of personnel administration ranging from soldiers annual reports, preparation of disciplinary paperwork to applications for training courses.

Secretarial Personnel Assistant to senior officers in Headquarters - National and Multi-National or Embassy / Foreign & Commonwealth Offices.

Trained as a soldier and Combat HR Specialist, your skills will enable you to support any unit in the Army including Parachute Regiment, Commandos and even Special Forces, but also the Royal Navy and RAF.  You can be deployed close to the front line or further back in base locations.  As you change your unit every 2 years you can expect to get a great deal of variety and travel in your career and the freedom to make career choices as to what type of unit you wish to serve with – Armour, Artillery, Infantry, Logistics, Medical or Aviation. Combat HR specialists are found in every unit of the British Army.

Military Police As a Military Policeman/woman you form part of the Army's Police Force. A fully trained soldier, you will also be responsible for maintaining order and military discipline, both in barracks and on operations. You could be deployed anywhere in the world, supporting military units and undertaking security patrols, detecting and preventing crime, and investigating incidents.

Entry Requirements:

There are 2 two routes to joining the AGC (SPS): you can either take the Standard Entry Soldier path and join between 17.5 and 32.11 years, or join as a Junior Entry between the ages of 16.1 – 17.5 years.  The latter enables you to join the Army at 16 and trains you at the Army Development College, which has both a military and educational base.

All RMP entrants use the Standard Entry route.
