Glasgow and Strathclyde

Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities' Officer Training Corps (GSUOTC) strives to develop leadership skills in university students in the Glasgow area.

Welcome to the website of Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities' Officer Training Corps (GSUOTC). We are part of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Group of UOTCs and are located in the West End of Glasgow. We recruit from the following institutions:

  • University of Glasgow
  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • University of Strathclyde
  • University of the West of Scotland and higher education across the West of Scotland.
  • Any other college of higher education across Strathclyde.

At GSUOTC we offer students and potential officers for the Army Reserve the chance to develop their leadership potential through military and adventurous training whilst promoting regular or reserve service with the Army and creating a positive impression of the Army among individual participants and university communities.

The Offer.

GSUOTC is not just for those who are considering a career in the Army. The experienced and dedicated staff are available to assist and support if you are considering a career in HM Armed Forces, but more importantly to ensure you develop life skills in a challenging, fun and friendly atmosphere, all whilst getting paid. We structure our programme to coincide with the academic timetables of our universities and take into consideration your individual needs to ensure your studies take priority.

The Corps is based on the University of Glasgow’s Campus in the West End (Just off Byers road). Training takes place on Wednesday evenings (Tuesday evening for Piping, Drumming and Highland Dancing) and seven specified weekends throughout the year. Whilst a level of commitment is required, personal circumstances are taken into account to ensure you can continue in GSUOTC as well as conduct your academic studies unhindered.

Interested?

As an official university society, we are present during the main fresher’s fairs at all four universities and open our doors to new members in September and January annually. Outside of these opportunities feel free to get in touch with as and register your interest.

Feel free to come along and have a look on a Wednesday evening and find out why we are the best University club to join.
