Aberdeen University Officer Training Corps (AUOTC) provides military leadership training to students from The Robert Gordon University and The University of Aberdeen. Through military exercises, adventure training, sports, community work and social events, AUOTC gives students an opportunity to challenge themselves and develop leadership skills sought after by employers.

AUOTC is part of the British Army but Officer Cadets have no obligation to join the Armed Forces when they leave university and can resign from AUOTC whenever they wish. Typically, the AUOTC trains on Tuesday evenings and 2-3 weekends a month. Officer Cadets are also encouraged to train for one of our sport teams on Wednesdays.

One of the best things about AUOTC is that you get paid while having fun. There is also the opportunity to earn an annual bounty if you complete all the necessary criteria throughout the year.

Sport and Adventurous Training

Sports and Adventurous Training are a big part of AUOTC life, from football to skiing and rugby to rock climbing there is a chance to learn new skills, develop old ones and compete at local and national levels.

There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved in expeditions, from mountaineering in the Cairngorms, rock climbing in the Dolomites, Italy, and annual ski trips in the French Alps. Officer Cadets may get the chance to go on battlefield studies in places like Tunisia, Vietnam and America.
